Due to the unexpected death of his wife (Cynthia), Raymond plans to embark on a journey to find meaning for the rest of his life. At the time of departure, the arrival of son (Gavin) breaks Raymond's original plan, making the father and son who can not get along with each other have to embark on the journey together. Along the way, the widowed father and motherless son discover each other's "secret," and once again, Cynthia reconciles the love between father and son in another way.
在妻子(辛西娅)意外离世后，雷蒙德计划踏上一段寻找生命意义的旅程。而儿子(盖文)的出现打破了雷蒙德原本的计划，让原本就难以和睦相处的父子不得不一起踏上旅途。一路上，丧偶的父亲和失去母亲的儿子互相发现了彼此的“秘密”，辛西娅再一次以另一种方式调和了父子之间的关系。
